Officially in the spirit
In the spirit of Christmas that is! I love Christmas time. I hate the commercialism of the holiday, but the original meaning of Christmas I love. I love spending time with family, I love to decorate my house with poinsettas and evergreen, listening to Christmas carols and baking cookies. For the first time ever, I have finished my Christmas shopping, with the exception of three gift cards, before December!! I love the giving of gifts. I love to congregate at the homes of friends and family to visit and eat yummy food. I love to cook a special breakfast on the morning of Christmas and eat on the fine china and crystal. For our family, we divide it up, so that we don’t have to go to everyone’s home on the same day. So, we start having Christmas get togethers on the 15th and we go until about the 28th.
So this is some of my family’s traditions. Do you have traditions?

Hey,
Being @ the “lighting of the tree” concert on Jekyll did it for us … we counted down, lit the big tree w/ Santa, and there was some awesome fireworks … we are certainly IN THE SPIRIT now!

Each year we bake a birthday cake on Christmas Eve and when we wake up on Christmas morning we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus and have cake for breakfast. Oh, and we always watch “A Christmas Story” while we decorate the tree!

Guess what? We decorated our tree last night without a bit of fuss, no substitution cuss words, or stress. It was great. Amanda and I are still figuring out our traditions, or rather, what the mixing of our families’ traditions will look like. It’s neat.
Plus, I got to hang my Homer Simpson as Santa ornament. Sweet!

WOw, I am bad at getting back on here to check comments. Thanks for them by the way! I love traditions.
Heidi- Tamales, sounds fun!
Chris- you make me laugh! Homer Simpson, hahaha! Sweet, indeed.
Mandy, I miss you! I think Drew will be a lot like Jon when it comes to babies! Don’t try to fool me though, you will be smitten too!
