Oh and the other thought ...; ) is this: the bible says that salvation is a gift.... it seems strange to think that if God gives a gift... he would take it away.

Hey Thomas! No problem, we all get busy... I actually forgot too! : )

I look forward to your comments later on.... however, i do have a thought... You mentioned that you "don't believe once you think you are saved that you are saved"... Here is my thought: If you are truly saved, is God's death on the cross not enough to cover you if you mess up or fall away? I don't know, I hear a lot of people talk about losing salvation etc...but I guess my opinion on that is if I am saved, I am in His hands, what in the world can possible pull me out of them?

Shoot, I forgot all about writing this post, sorry it took so long to get back. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, well we certainly disagree on a couple things, but thats ok, happens all the time. I have no idea what to comment back to you right now. I am still in the process of seeking the Lord on this whole topic and getting into His word about it. I do for a fact though, that Christ died on the Cross for our salvation and He himself says anyone He does not know, will not enter. Even those claiming His name and using It, must depart. So obviously its more then just saying a prayer and then living your life. To me anyhow, I mean we must know Him. I believe that is the ONLY way to stop sinning, to hate it as He does. It is the ONLY way to become like Him in character and deeds. I dont believe once you think your saved you are always saved. I really think in fact, that then you were never saved, if it comes down to ignoring the Lord pretty much. From what I understand we must hate the world and not be a part of it. We must serve our Lord and King on a daily basis. Anyhow, I have to get out of here and do a few things, but I will get back to this later on I am sure. Take care of yourself and God bless you.

I am so glad that you did comment! Welcome to my page of ramblings!
Let me see, I will answer what I think that you are asking... clarify if not! ; )

At salvation, I believe the scriptures teach that we become holy in the sight of God. The bible calls Jesus our intercessor, which means that he stands between us and God, arguing our case. We are not actually as holy as Christ on this side of heaven but we are sort of "borrowing" his holiness in the eyes of Father God. We are made righteous because the lamb was slain for our transgressions.
Then there are verses that teach for us to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling so that we may be found blameless".
when you look up the Greek for fear and trembling in the Strong's concordance this is what it says: with fear and trembling, used to describe the anxiety of one who distrusts his ability completely to meet all requirements, but religiously does his utmost to fulfill his duty.

So this tells me that I can't trust my own ability to "be holy" but I must still do my best to obey the word of God. However, there are many who contend that you can "lose" your salvation. I disagree with this wholeheartedly! I am saved by the grace of God and my salvation is in the hand of a powerful God. The word says that no power can separate me from his love!

I agree with you that just because one reads in a book to stop doing something, they are not likely to be successful at it. That is where we must allow the Holy Spirit to give us self control. I also believe that in a case where addiction is concerned, or a sin that binds you, you must follow the word that says to confess to God and another Christian brother or sister who is willing to come along side and help you fight the good fight so to speak!

I am not sure if this is what you are speaking of... please comment your thoughts.
Thanks!!

Well written my sister and I agree, it all comes from a deep, intimate relationship with Him, that sanctifies us, so that we may become holy. Although I was wondering about some things as I read, considering God has put this on my heart for the past few months. A couple scripts, such as without holiness, no man shall see the Lord and also Christ is coming back for a holy bride, without blemish or wrinkle. Now I know at conversion there is a verse that states we are sancified, made holy, depending on what version you read. So from what I gather, we are made holy at conversion, accepting salvation as a gift of grace. Then are challenged to go to Christ for everything, pick up our cross daily, work out our own righteousness, renew our minds and be holy as our Lord is holy. Two main scripts pretty much bring to me to my conclusion. I believe once you truly, with your heart, make Christ your Lord and as we call saved. Then it is all about knoing him in a deeper level. I mean is not Christ the flesh made word and the word made flesh. I have read constantly come to me, serve no other, deny all but me and etc. Then He says many will come and you know the rest im sure. If we dont know Him, we must depart from Him. Then without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. This one here I cant believe I never really payed attention to or even noticed while being saved for three years. So we must be holy, Im sure you know all the verses. Does someone stop doing something just because a book tells them to do so? I have witnessed and experienced that this is not true. I think we must know Him, be intimate and personal with him. As we grow deeper, as I believe yous stated on your post, we dont want to lose that connection with him, the blessing of His presence. So we know what He does not approve of and since we know and respect Him in a deep, loving way. Its then we choose not to sin against Him. Man, lol, I didnt mean to type of short book or anything. I just was surfin and came across your post and felt like leaving a reply. I would love to see a reply from you if ya are up for it. Take it easy and God bless you.
